Getting started is easy!
1. Sign Our Waiver
Every visitor to Planet Granite must complete the liability waiver AND present a government-issued photo ID card within 30 days of completing the waiver. For minors under 18 years of age, the liability waiver must be signed by a parent or legal guardian*. If the parent or guardian will not be present, please bring a photocopy of the adult's government-issued photo ID for signature verification. *Please note: legal guardians must present proof of guardianship to sign a child's waiver.
2. Choose Your Climbing Style
There are two main types of indoors gym climbing: bouldering and roped climbing.
Bouldering is rope-free climbing on short walls with pads beneath for protection. For a quick workout and the freedom to climb independently, bouldering is a great choice.
Climbing on a rope allows longer climbs, and the social dynamic of working with a partner. To climb on a rope, you need two people: one who manages the rope and one who climbs.
3. Take an Intro Class and Start Climbing!
Introductory classes, although not required, are a great way to experience climbing for the first time. The Intro to Climbing: Belay Lesson offers the basics while the Beginner Rock Climbing course covers belaying basic plus more over a four week period.

Already have belay experience? Belayers must pass a Planet Granite top rope test (it's free!) before belaying in our gyms.
