Planet Granite Portland buzzed with excitement as registration opened for the 2nd annual PDX Pulldown. Climbers eyed the new routes as they signed up with Lizzy and Maggie at the registration table.
The excited crowd cheered one another on as everyone tried their hardest. Route #25, the most difficult route up, provided a challenge for some of our strongest climbers. The crowd cheered these climbers on while they tested their strength and endurance against the Iceberg.
Sponsors like Keen, The North Face, Icebreaker, Arcteryx, and more offered giveaways and cool products for climbers to check out while awaiting their turn on the amazing routes.
Food and beverage vendors like Runa and Happy Mountain Kombucha were ready to quench competitors thirst in between climbs. Carioca Bowls provided free samples of Acai to keep climbers energized until climbing closed at 9pm.
Once the routes had been climbed, competitors turned in their scorecards and the staff started to tally scores. Before finals began, Lizzy and CJ held an epic bean bag toss, with raffle tickets up for grabs. Then, it was time for finals! Some of Portland’s strongest climbers competed for their portion of the cash purse. After an exciting round, there was a tie in the Women’s category which put them into a SUPER FINALS!
Thanks for coming out everyone!
