It’s that time of year again! The time of year where the sun sets early, and we do most of our climbing indoors. Well, it’s time to put all of your winter training to the test while competing against your friends at PG’s annual rope climbing competition: the PDX Pulldown!
While the Pulldown is a competition, it’s really our way of getting the climbing community together, having some fun, and doing some climbing! Just like last year, we’ll have a host of local vendors tabling at the event, lots of prizes up for grabs, food and beer. Here is everything you need to know to get you climbing, and maximizing your fun at the Pulldown.
There’s a category for everyone.
That’s right! The Pulldown is open to all ages and abilities. Here is a breakdown of the categories:
Recreational: up to 5.10b
Open (lead): 5.11d and higher
Youth (top rope only): all youth 15 years and under.*
* Youth under 15 who are leading will compete in the adult Open category
Here’s how the evening works:
The Pulldown runs from 4:00-9:00pm on Friday, March 11th.
Once climbing closes at 9:00, we’ll count out the scores and invite the top 3 men and top 3 women to compete in our Onsight Series Final (woot!) Watch some of our strongest locals battle it out for a portion of the cash purse!
There is no Pre-Registration necessary! Registration opens at 3:00pm the day of the Pulldown. Friday, March 11th.
The Pulldown is FREE for members, and $20 for Non-Members. This includes a T-Shirt and Raffle Ticket!
There’s plenty to do if you’re not climbing!
Every year we invite our friends in the outdoor industry to sponsor and table at the Pulldown. Last year we had sponsors like Prana, Arctery’x, U.S. Outdoor, Mountain Shop, and Next Adventure at the Pulldown. In addition to seeing what our local shops have to offer, there will be plenty of climbing to watch! (Did we mention the Onsight Series Final!?) Snacks and beer will be available for your enjoyment while you peruse the vendor tables and cheer your friends on.
